Turn LinkedIn Connections into App Downloads

*LinkedIn has removed the ability to download contacts. I would now suggest targeting people on Facebook based on where they work (B2B) or which pages they like (B2C)*

Turning LinkedIn connections into Facebook ads is a great way to get cheaper app downloads leveraging your personal brand.

There are two main ways to drive downloads in 2018:

1) Paid ads (like TikTok)
2) Organic growth (Influencers, Events)

Both of these options have their strengths but one option that is overlooked is leveraging personal branding.

Building a good product is like building a boat. If you’re looking to build the best boat possible, at best it will not sink. If you’re looking to build the best personal brand possible, at best the tide will rise. Meaning everything you touch will automatically do better simply because you’ve touched it and other boats (people) will rise too.

This is where leveraging LinkedIn comes in.

LinkedIn’s sole purpose is to make connections and what you might not know is that each connection can be exported (legally) into an email list.

Why is this important?

Because now you can post to LinkedIn, make real connections at conferences and such, and then be able to retarget those people on Facebook with ads.

The fact is, people will download your app at a much higher rate (and cheaper CPC) if they know who you are and what the product is already.

Here’s how you can leverage your organic strategy on LinkedIn to get lower Cost Per Download on Facebook:

1. Click the  My Network icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.

2. Click Your connections on the left rail.

3. Click  Manage synced and imported contacts near the top right of the page.

4. Under Advanced actions on the right rail, click Export contacts.

5. Select the "Connections" and click Request Archive.

You will receive an email to your Primary Email address which will include a link where you can download your list of connections.

Now just make a custom audience in Facebook.

Now your can run ads targeting people that are already connected to you. To get an even more specific audience, you can target your connections by location, occupation, interests, age, gender, and even device.

Have fun connecting!
